Split32 is a small, simple and easy-to-use tool designed to be used for splitting and composing again files. It�s useful to examine and edit large files or to copy a large file on several floppy disks. You can modify the splitted files and compose them again.
When splitting a file, it becomes partioned on several files of a desired size. The splitted files have the name of the original file and the continuous extensions 001, 002 etc. For example, ARCHIV.ARJ is splitted into ARCHIV.001, ARCHIV.002 and so on. This method limits the maximum number of splitted files to 999.
In addition, a check file with the extension 000 is generated. It allows to restore name and date/time of the original file automatically. The check file also serves to recognize errors while composing the original file.
The splitted files are generated on the same drive and in the same directory as the original file. An error message appears, if there is not enough space on the drive or more than 999 splitted files would result. In the latter case, you can simply select a larger split size.
If a file with the same name as the first splitted file already exists, you�re asked if it can be overwritten. IMPORTANT: the rest of the splitted files (that is the files with extensions 002, 003 etc.) and the check file are overwritten without further confirmation, if needed
